The signature restaurant of the Coco Beach Resort, Champa is one of Mui Ne’s few fine dining restaurants. Both stylish and comfortable, Champa makes a nice change from the numerous indistinguishable seafood restaurants that dot Mui Ne’s main street. The restaurant is cleverly located with a view of the resort’s swimming pool and lush gardens, especially beautiful in the evenings (Champa is open for dinner only).
The menu features a selection of tapas, which can also serve as appetisers. Seafood is a main feature, as the restaurant makes full use of the local fishermen. A red tuna tartar with avocado and tropical spices makes a nice beginning to a meal, as does the Bacon wrapped goat cheese salad, a hearty starter.
For main courses, the roast lobster flamed in whiskey is recommended, but those in the mood for something simpler would do well to try the pan fried red mullet on a delicious basil risotto. But the meat dishes are where the European emphasis is more obvious. The veal tenderloin in black pepper-sesame crust is excellent, as is the duck confit with caramelized red wine onions and homemade gnocchi. Finish the meal with a delightful chocolate fudge and you’ll leave the table satiated.
